What Is My Case Worth?
The primary concern in a personal injury lawsuit will be what it is worth, or what amount of compensation the injured party may be entitled to receive. Of course, there is no way to fully compensate a person for experiencing a disabling injury or losing a loved one, but a favorable verdict or settlement can make all the difference in a victim’s ability to rebuild and experience peace of mind.
Depending on the case, you may be entitled to compensation for:
- Current and future lost wages and earnings
- Medical bills, for life
- Pain and suffering
- Punitive damages
With an Ontario personal injury attorney from McCune Wright Arevalo, LLP on you can rest assured that we are doing everything we can to make sure you and your family are fully compensated for your losses and that wrongdoers are held accountable for their actions.

What do I do after an accident? It is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible. Ensure that your doctor documents your injuries and that you return for follow-up appointments. Take pictures of the scene of the accident, if it is safe to do so, and exchange insurance and contact information with the other party. If there were witnesses, take down their contact information as well. Never admit fault to a police officer, insurance agent, or the other party, and speak to your attorney before taking any insurance settlements.
How long do I have to file a personal injury claim? The state has set a two-year statute of limitations that starts counting down from the date of the accident or injury. Under most circumstances, if you do not file within this two-year period, you may not be able to do so in the future.
Will my case go to trial? Most personal injury claims are settled out of court and some before a lawsuit is even filed. However, in order to seek full and fair compensation, a civil trial may be necessary.
Do I need a personal injury attorney?Personal injury lawyers have studied the law and have insight and experience into how to negotiate, settle, and try cases. Insurance companies employ legal teams to protect their company’s bottom line. Standing up against them can be a challenge for the everyday individual, especially when they are already dealing with the pain and trauma of a serious injury.
